Welcome to the website of the Rhode Island Society
of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. The purpose of
this site is to provide information to members of the
Oriental Medicine profession as well as material to
educate the community about Oriental Medicine.
RISAOM is a professional society serving the community
of Doctors of Acupuncture in Rhode Island. A Doctor
of Acupuncture is licensed after completion of at least
2500 hours of training at an accredited school of Oriental
Medicine and successful completion of the exams provided
by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
RISAOM is an organizational member of both the American
Association of Oriental Medicine and the National Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine Alliance. RISAOM believes in promoting
diversity and cooperation within the profession and
promoting high standards of professionalism consistent
the standards supported by the profession at a national
level.
